Great Treasures at Gametraders – 26.10.11

Welcome to the new weekly segment of Revenge of the Film Nerds, where I share with you new stock available at Gametraders Blacktown that has me excited, curious, or just generally interested.   There is a lot to share, so I will jump straight into it!

Harry Potter wands

Who wouldn’t want one of these exquisitely crafted replicas from the block-busting film series.   With both Halloween and the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 just around the corner, this would be great for any kid, big or small, especially if planning to attend a cosplay event in the near future.

Batman: Arkham City

The sequel to the smash hit game Batman: Arkham Asylum, this game was recently reviewd by SchmandaRose, and also completed by myself last night.   We both rate this game very highly, and I may have uttered “I’m Batman” once or twice to myself while playing.

Dead Island

When this game was first released a few weeks ago, it flew off the shelves, and has been hard to stock ever since, even in pre=played stock.   More copies have finally arrived however, to allow the public to continue in zombie-slaying glee!

Dead Rising 2: Off The Record

The OTHER zombie slaying release of recent weeks, this game finally addresses something I have been curious about for some time.   The original Dead Rising followed the story of journalist Frank West, whom by the end of the game was infected with the zombie virus but staving it off with the newly invented Zombrex.   Dead Rising 2, however, follows a new character Chuck Greene with no updates on how poor old Frank was doing.   With this game, we get Frank and Chuck united, and I was very quick to pick up my own copy.

The Guild Seasons 1 and 2

This is the DVD of the first two seasons of the hit web series, starring and written by Joss Whedon alumna Felicia Day.   She plays “Codex”, a member of a local Guild whom is forced to have her online and real life worlds merge.   Though this series does go beyond the Gametraders normal anime stock, its gaming focus makes it a very relevant and humourous addition to the available merchandise.

This game was new on the shelves today.   I had not heard of it prior to today, but the general rumour is that it is supposed to be quite good.   From the cover, it looks a very anime styled game that follows the misadventures of a bloke choosing between fiancée Katherine and new fling Catherine.   Yes, I do get the impression this one is not for the juniors!!

Master Chief and Spartan Mark V posable figures

This was a mouth dropping open item to see enter the store today.   These massive figures are impressively detailed and truly beautiful to behold.   For those willing to open the box, you are basically giving yourself a fully posable Halo statuette.   This item comes perfectly in time for the release of the Halo Anniversary Edition next month.   Speaking of which, don’t forget to pre-order your copy at Gametraders for a bundle including a special collectors tin and a replica laser sword!!

Doctor Who Construction Block sets

The image above is one of many of the new Doctor Who construction block sets available.   This is perfect for the young Doctor Who fans, or anyone who enjoys combining pop culture with construction blocks.   Some of the new items on offer include the TARDIS console room, a Dalek construction set, and a mini-scene including the infamous weeping angels!!

Battlefield 3

This long-awaited release found its way to our shelves finally this afternoon.   I myself am not familiar with the franchise, but for those of you who know and love this franchise, it is time to pick up the next chapter!!
