One thing that a lot of people know about me is that I am not a morning person. So it has to be something (or someone) extra special to get me up at the crack of dawn in order to be at the front of a queue in which one waits in the freezing cold for 2 hours until the event opens. However, as the line grew longer and longer I became increasingly grateful for Film Nerds punctuality.
That, dear reader was the start of my very first supernova experience. And boy was it an experience for a sci-fi convention virgin like me. From the very nice and friendly girl standing in front of me in the queue nearly having a wardrobe malfunction while removing her jacket to show her costume (the event organizers needed to check her costume to make sure she was not bending any modesty standards!) to the many interesting and varied stalls to the absolutely amazing cosplay costumes (soo want to dress up next year!!), there was a lot for me to see, do and take in. But best of all were the talks that I attended featuring Eliza Dushku (I am a bit late to the game regarding buffy) , Lou Ferrigno (the original Hulk- he was a bit too new age for my liking) and best of all, Michael Winslow from the Police Academy movies. Michael Winslow was a crack up with his rap remix of the sound of music song ‘so long, farewell’ and his re-enactment of a famous Star Wars scene and I am kicking myself for being a lazy bum and missing the beginning of his talk (thank you film nerd for pushing me to go and see him ).
All in all I had a great time and would encourage anyone to check it out.
